APAC Edition
With APAC’s unique geographical layout, fragmented carrier systems, and its quick AI adoption, standard last mile strategies are generally found to be lacking for this region. And that’s why it stands out. Based on insights from 500+ senior professionals - including C-suite leaders, directors, and heads of transportation, operations, technology - Eye on the Last Mile - APAC 2026 is a complete analysis of the current trends, strategies, and priorities around last mile delivery in the region.

APAC may be the fastest to adopt AI in the supply chain, with 70% frontline workers using AI in APAC vs 50% globally, other bumps in the road still remain to be overcome. The top challenge remains to be cost (98%), which increases because of disconnected carrier systems, physical complexities - like geographical dispersion, multi-island distribution and urban congestion - and additional costs that still remain hidden. In an effort to better serve a consumer economy exceeding $10 trillion, operators are resetting supply chains to be dynamic, flexible, and robust. This transformation is driven by competitive rates, expanded delivery capacities, and a rapid acceleration in the use of AI.

The cost per delivery continues to go up, and this year, the average has been 18.9% YoY, but that is only the visible problem. Costs owing to surcharges, complex contracts, failed deliveries, rescheduling, WISMO calls, poor routing and unused capacity usually remain unidentified.

When looking at the single customer promise that matters the most, 2x more customers prefer predictability over speed of delivery. This predictability can be fueled by providing a delivery window, accuracy in ETA, WISMO inquiry rate and better customer engagement at every step.

Operators are aiming towards hybrid fleet models, with 48% planning to increase outsourced deliveries. They are looking to answer critical questions by functioning in a Goldilocks Zone that is the perfect middle of completely owned and completely outsourced.

98.3% respondents trust AI to make correct decisions, with three-quarters of operators already on the AI maturity ladder. While companies adopt AI, the biggest challenge they face with scaling it is complexity in integration (27%), lack of internal expertise (20%), and poor quality of data (18%).
